Logistics that moves Brazil with social and environmental responsibility

At MRS, we constantly strive for efficiency, innovation, and excellence, knowing that the right path is one built with social and environmental responsibility.

We are building a solid sustainability journey, guided by ethical principles and practices that reinforce our role as an agent of transformation. Caring for the environment, people, and governance is an essential part of how we operate and how we envision the future: a more efficient, fair, and sustainable future.

Our Materiality

Our sustainability management is guided by a materiality matrix with 12 priority topics, developed based on active stakeholder engagement and aligned with GRI (Global Reporting Initiative), SASB (Sustainability Accounting Standards Board), and SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).

These topics reflect the main challenges and opportunities of our operations and form the foundation of the value we deliver to clients, employees, society, and shareholders.

Our public commitments

Climate: reduce emissions intensity by 15% by 2035 (target: 8.10 gCO₂e/TKU).

Diversity: achieve 34% women in leadership positions by 2030.

Safety: zero lives lost due to work-related accidents and an accident rate below 1.00.

Our ESG performance

Sustainability is a strategic pillar at MRS and is embedded in every decision, investment, and innovation we pursue. Discover some of the initiatives that strengthen our performance across the three ESG dimensions:

Environment

We invest in energy efficiency, responsible water use, waste management, and biodiversity conservation in the areas where we operate.

Social

Cuidar das pessoas é o que nos move.  Caring for people is what drives us. We prioritize safety, human development, diversity, and the creation of shared value with the communities along our railway network.

Governance

Integrity, ethics, and transparency guide all our decisions. We follow robust governance policies, ensuring responsible management and the creation of sustainable value for all stakeholders.

MRS Sustainability Report

Since 2019, we have published our Sustainability Report. More than a document, it is an invitation to transparency: we share the results, challenges, and learnings that drive our sustainability journey.

UN Global Compact

Since 2024, we have been signatories to the UN Global Compact, reaffirming our commitment to the 2030 Agenda and to the Ten Universal Principles in the areas of Human Rights, Labor, Environment, and Anti-Corruption.

The UN annually monitors and validates our practices and progress related to the SDGs prioritized by MRS:
